Labor Markets

The sectors where the effects of conflict tend to be more discriminatory are: jobs and livelihoods, housing, and education. Therefore, any response to promote peacebuulding and peacekeeping are recomended to have a special duty tackling these sectors. As such, this paper defines the labor market sector vision as: "to contribute to the peacebuilding process through better targeted regional policies in the labor market promoting female employment and making use of local capacities to improve policy design and implementation".

The paper provides an overview of the current labor market situation and the respective policy gaps that are in relation to the peacebuilding phase as defined in the Strategic Policy Alternatives Framework (SPAF) document. It then offers sector specific policy priorities and recommendations.
